Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Slice a large onion and place the pieces at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Lay your seasoned beef roast on top of the onions, pressing gently.
  3. Pour in enough beef broth to cover about half of the beef roast.
  4. Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce.
  5. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt over the roast.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and set it to LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
  7. Remove the beef roast and let it rest for a few minutes.
  8. Shred the beef into bite-sized pieces.
  9. Remove onion pieces from the broth using a slotted spoon.
  10. Mix cornstarch with cold water to form a slurry and stir into the broth.
  11. Cook on HIGH for about 10 minutes until gravy thickens.
  12. Layer slices of bread on plates, top with mashed potatoes, and shredded beef.
  13. Ladle the thick gravy over everything and enjoy!
