  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper optional

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 fillets white fish like cod or tilapia
For the Slaw
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage green or purple
  • 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 juiced lime
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • to taste salt and pepper
For Assembly
  • 8 pieces corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 lime cut into wedges for garnish
  • to taste optional toppings like sliced avocado or Cotija cheese

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each fish fillet into buttermilk, then dredge in the seasoned flour mixture.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Fry the fish for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. In a large bowl, combine cabbage, cilantro, lime juice, mayonnaise, honey, and salt and pepper.
  5. Warm tortillas, place fish in the center, and top with cilantro lime slaw and optional toppings.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
