For the Salmon
  • 4 fillets Salmon (skin on) Substitute with any firm fish like trout.
  • Salt To taste.
For the Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Can be substituted with canola or vegetable oil.
For the Sweet & Spicy Glaze
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning Adjust to taste for your spice preference.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Use unsalted for better control over flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Substitute with maple syrup or agave syrup.
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce Use tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Can replace with ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • 0.5 lemon Lemon juice Squeeze juice of half a lemon; lime juice can also be used.
For Garnishing
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) Alternatively, use cilantro.
  • Lemon wedges For serving.
  • Black sesame seeds Optional.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub each fillet with olive oil, season with Cajun seasoning and salt. Let rest.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the salmon fillets skin-side up and sear for 3 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add honey, soy sauce, and garlic, stir and let simmer for 2-3 minutes. Stir in lemon juice.
  4. Pour the honey butter sauce over the salmon in the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until fish is cooked through.
  5. Transfer the salmon to a serving plate, garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges and optional sesame seeds.

Notes

Allow salmon to sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before cooking for even cooking. Don't move salmon while searing for a perfect crust.
